Laney AOR 100
Bless its heart for trying. The Laney AOR 100 is just "not good". This is only my opinion, man. Are you ready for the great news? It has GREAT bones to become the Marshall it was trying to be. From the factory, these things have a flubby and unusable distortion. With the right value tweaks throughout this circuits bypass and coupling caps, the AOR can start to sound like a heavy machine.

A Bit of Inspiration
A recent AOR mod lit a fire for me to finally put a boost idea that I have been pondering into fruition. As the customer needed that bit of over the top gain in the realm of a slo 100, and not quite wanting to add a gain stage to this amp, I suggested a good boost in the front end. Well which boost? There are countless. Well, I had always had an idea for a boost circuit that would compliment the amount of gain stages these marshall like amps have. Something that could really get you into that added stage realm. Now we have to decide which realm we're even talking about. Each true high gain amplifier is different from the next. Do we want the Mesa style high gain? The SLO 100 style high gain? The tight articulate high gain such as the KSR amps? You pick! With the 800ST, you control how Tight or Fat you want your signal to be. You can utilize this boost in any setting. From heavy DOOM to articulate chops.
Shown in the photo is the very first (prototype) 800ST boost by Blythe Engineering. Like many other things I do, it was inspired by something or someone.
